Joel is the Head of Strategy & Planning for Sainsbury’s Digital & Technology function. He is responsible for the development of the division’s strategy, vision, goals and objectives, as well as facilitating continuous transformation of the division and ways of working, to enable Agile delivery at increasing pace. Joel is currently leading the transformation of the Digital & Technology function ways of working. Prior to this role, Joel was a Lead Product Owner and Online Development Manager at Sainsbury’s.

Our roundtable discussion will follow the theme of our presentation across people, strategy and delivery. North Highland and Sainsburys have faced into a challenge of excessive business cases that encourage inflated CapEx requests and have misaligned stakeholder expectations through inaccurate success criteria. Our new model focuses on a slimmed down lean canvas investment paper that outlines Experiment, MVP build and Feature Build stages with flexibility within these stages. The paper is further enabled through a Product Council model that features better collaboration between the business, finance and digital & technology and communicates to stakeholders through a visible portfolio Kanban featuring the lean canvas’.
