Agile Business Conference 2008

September 23rd - 24th

Keynote Speaker: Tim Difford

Tim Difford, Business Solutions Director at Steria, draws upon twenty years of experience in senior business and IT roles across financial services, IT outsourcing and public sectors.  A thought leader in new and emerging technologies, he has lead many teams at the forefront of new product, channel and service developments championing Agile methods along the way.

For Steria, having delivered a number of major change initiatives, Tim now leads an extensive Innovation Programme across the Financial Services sector, which currently places significant emphasis on green and sustainable business and technology projects, tools and techniques

Keynote Session: The Accelerated, Green, Iterative and Lean Experience – Agile’s role in the greening of Business and IT change

The Agile lifecycle continues to evolve to embrace changes across industry and the environment.  The long-standing focus on re-use, on well-designed products and on sustainable delivery is central to the Agile philosophy.  This strongly positions practitioners to help to eradicate wasteful, throw-away projects which only hinder businesses seeking to meet increasingly regulated requirements for responsible project delivery and product development.

In this keynote address, Tim will consider the key lessons for Agile practitioners looking to incorporate sustainability requirements into all future projects and reflect on some of the key green themes (and some of the myths!) which are transforming business and IT thinking today.

Green and sustainable ‘non-functional’ requirements are now to be found at the core of all Agile projects, as we see  organisations beginning to demonstrate their commitment to driving down energy consumption by building long-lasting, well-engineered products for the future.  Like security requirements, these will increasingly be necessary to assure businesses of their regulatory and legislative compliance.
